Joseph Harker is an editor and columnist on the Guardian’s comment section. He also coordinates the diversity and inclusion strategy for the paper’s editorial department. He is a former managing editor of the Guardian’s features department. In 2008 he edited the Guardian’s Black History Month poster series, and in 1994 edited the hardback Guardian book The Legacy of Apartheid, to mark South African’s first free elections. Before joining the Guardian, he was editor and publisher of the weekly newspaper Black Briton, and previous to that assistant editor at The Voice.
