Inspirational YOU speaker – Ava Vidal – Saturday 30th June

Ava Vidal speaking will be joining the leading ladies panel at Inspirational YOU this Saturday 30th June at Birkbeck, University of London.  Ava is an accomplished young stand-up and has risen quickly through comedy’s ranks. The only female finalist in the BBC 3 New Comedy Awards in the very first year of her career, she already has a clutch of TV appearances to her name, including the BBC’s Michael McIntyre Comedy Roadshow, Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up, Edinburgh and Beyond and C4 reality show Kings of Comedy.

Ava Vidal, born 1976, is a British comedienne, who became well known after taking part in E4’s “Kings of Comedy”. Her career in comedy as part of a sketch group that was developed by the BBC called “The Urban Sketch Show”. She has two children, having had her first aged 18. Vidal left her job as a prison guard after four years, and soon became known in the comedy circuit.

Vidal states on her MySpace page that she has done, “A couple of Top 100 shows where people like me who have achieved nothing get to comment on more successful people that have made a few mistakes”. She appeared in “28 Acts in 28 Minutes” and “The Comic Side of 7 Days” in 2005. Vidal has also been involved in other BBC shows including The Last Laugh, BBC 2’s The Sack Race where she had to compete with another performer to get sacked as close to 3 pm as possible, and the short lived sitcom on BBC 1 The Crouches.

 

She was a housemate in Kings of Comedy on E4, and Channel 4 made a documentary about her called “From the Top”, a half-hour show explaining her journey in comedy so far, and how she became a comedienne. She has also appeared on Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up and The Comedystore TV show’s as well as Edinburgh and Beyond. Recently, Ava Vidal was in the line-up on “Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow” in Swansea, aired Saturday 27th June. Most recently she appeared on Channel 4’s Magners Best of the Brighton Fest. This aired on 25th October.
